Good for:

Brushing up on general knowledge

How it works:

Today’s date will appear on the home screen and there are 3 categories to scroll through for what happened in history on this day: Events, Births, Deaths. The day I tried it, 13 July, under ‘Births’, listed Roman general Julius Caesar’s birth on 13 July, in 100 BC. Under ‘Events’, scrolling nearer our time reminds us that on 13 July, 2011, The UN Security Council admitted South Sudan as a member.

The good:

Lots of varied, interesting information for history and politics buffs.

The bad:

The lines of text in each column can get tiring to read after a while, because of the small font size. Having more space between lines and adding colour variation to demarcate the information for each entry would help ease eye strain.
