Good for:

Those who want to learn English words without reading a dictionary

How it works:

You’ll first see a home page containing some menu options. If you want to play immediately, select the ‘Play’ option to start. You can also select the ‘Account’ option to log in, which will give you access to the ‘Leaderboard’ option on the home page. A leaderboard is a list of players ranked from the highest level to the lowest, so you can see the levels you and your friends are at.

Once you’re in the game, you will see a box labelled ‘Definition’ and a dictionary definition written in it. This definition will help you guess the scrambled word at the bottom of the screen. Using the D-Pad, move the jumbled letters left and right until it spells the word that matches the dictionary definition shown. If you’re stuck, press the ‘Hint’ button on the bottom right of the screen, indicated by a lightbulb icon.

There are a total of 16 levels, and about 10 questions per level.

The good:

The hints give you examples of how the word is used in a sentence, so it’s good to click on them even if you know what the word means but you’re not sure how to use this word.

The bad:

The 10 questions are not unique; the same questions repeat very frequently throughout the level. There is also no option to revisit the previous levels you cleared in case you need a revision.
