Good for:

People who want to use emoticons and abbreviations in their texts.

How it works:

Select a category and scroll down to see the emoticon (or abbreviation) and its meaning. There are 5 categories: Basic Emoticons, Advanced Emoticons, Abbreviations, Shorter Shorthand, and Full On.

The good:

The app is easy to navigate and very straight-forward. It includes explanations of abbreviations, which are probably more useful than the emoticons’ explanations. There are also rarely-seen emoticons, like “beaver” and “pope”, which made me laugh!

The bad:

The emoticons shown are limited and generally quite self-explanatory by their appearance. Those that might require an explanation are also rarely used, like “beaver” and “rose”. Perhaps an entire app may not be necessary for understanding emoticons?

There’s also nothing else to this app. It doesn’t allow you to copy and paste the emoticons, which would be handy.
